What We Are Trying to Change

We are trying to change individual behavior as well as the consumer culture. Our business model is one that my high school choir teacher used on us "I want you to become so good that you no longer need me". That is our business practice for Eco-Box. We want to provide a way to introduce people to a zero-waste lifestyle, wean them off a consumer lifestyle, and focus on sustainable needs rather than non-sustainable wants.

INDIVIDUAL BEHAVIOR (LIGHT GREEN CHANGE)

We are trying to change individual's behavior by focusing on ways to wean people off of buying over-consumerized products that are low quality and have a detrimental impact on our planet. Think, low cost, cheaply made plastic spoons, single use plastic silverware, paper plates, styrofoam cups, etc. Because we first try to source our products locally, it shortens the supply chain. By using our brand ambassadors and our social media influencers, we are able to reach people and get them interested in our concept, and hopefully spark their interest in changing their consumer patterns.

CULTURE (DARK GREEN CHANGE)

We are trying to spark a cultural change in the way that people think about their products. Instead of focusing on the cheapest product, focus on how the products are made. This can expand to food, housing, and many other societal tokens. When you care where your products came from, that mentality hopefully transfers into other areas of life.
